Have you seen these awesome valentines on pinterest?
I took some of that pinterest inspiration and applied to a fifth grade lesson this past week.
Fifth graders took their photos in front of a green screen and used Pages to take out the background, add a new background, and add text. I find graphic design to be one of the easiest vehicles to talk simply about some of those more abstract concepts emphasis, unity, and balance. Students were expected to design a well composed valentine that created an optical illusion.
The kids had a ball and it was really successful!
Give it a try sometime!
