Getting ready for the year is stressful. I would argue that it's especially stressful for art teachers. With heaps of supplies and many times more than one space to ready, combined with the pressure to have it look like a creative, inspiring studio space it can be overwhelming.
With construction and three rooms to ready this Fall the pressure is on for me. Apologies as I take a few weeks to wrap my head around my new schedule, adjust to new spaces, and meet new administration and families.
In my district, I teach in three rooms. One I share with another teacher and two of them are my very own. In my rooms is use a table system that works really well for me and my students. Each seat has a number assigned to it. I call out those numbers to move about the room and gather supplies.
I saw this great idea at artwitholiveri and thought I would use her idea to kick start the new school year in my new classroom. I think it will be a great way to jump start the year and get students acclimated to the new space.
I've been playing around on the ipad and using it more and more as a drawing platform. With plans to have my students do the same in the coming months I've been trying out a variety of styluses. There is a huge amount of choices in the world of touch screen styluses. Amazon makes their own version and any office supply store has a host of options.
