While combing the app store I stumbled upon a great little drawing app called drawing with carl. It's intuitive to use, includes things like mirror drawing, stickers, and a great pattern filled paint bucket that gives collage like results reminiscent of Eric Carle. It also lets you import from the photo library and export back or email finished results. After playing around for 5 minutes I was hooked!
Summer is such an important time to me as a teacher. What other job gives you a series of weeks to renew yourself, reflect on your past performance, plan for the future, and experiment in preparation for the coming year?
My daughter and I took off on a roadtrip this past week to my parents 40 acre propety just outside of Madison. We goofed off, bought cheese, picked strawberries, and snuggled. It was magnificent.
David Hockney embraced technology when he started using his iphone as a drawing tablet in 2008 and moved on to the ipad when it was released in 2010. It is rumored that he even has special pockets added to the lining of his suits to fit his techy art devices. He mostly uses the app Brushes to create sketches and finished works which were on display early this year at The Royal Academy.
You can watch David Hockey rock out the ipad in a cafe in 2011 below.
